The song “Moondance” was written in 1970 by Irish rock, jazz and soul musician Van Morrison. This song is very romantic and playful; it never loses its classical styling or whimsical feeling whatever musical genre it is played in. The lyrics are artistic in their form and quite beautiful, flowing with the melody. Canadian jazz crooner Michael Buble` sings “Moondance” in a jazzy swing sound, with a Frank Sinatra styled voicing. When you hear him sing this song it puts you back in the 1930s and 1940s, even if you are not old enough to remember the 1930s or 1940s. Buble` brings out a class and romanticism in music that has been lost since the early nineties, when music started to be just modern noise, with singers and songwriters who could not sing with emotions and had little to no talent for writing music or the art of creating lyrics and their stories. Michael Buble`, like Josh Groban, has brought back some sanity to the art form of singing and performing with the ability to choose or create good material. No crazy empty foolish noise, no Britany Spears here, musical intelligence is back.

I loved this song as a kid, and still do; it puts me in mind of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, dancing across a moonlit dance floor, though it was long after their time. It has a flow that you want to dance to with someone you love. Just bring your fancy dance shoes and tuxedo and your lady fair. It is also a good song to listen to on a summer’s evening, walking in the moonlight, maybe with someone special.
